Meagan Nusz Crowned Amateur Owner Jumper ChampionMeagan Nusz Crowned Amateur Owner Jumper Champion at the Pennsylvania National Horse ShowHarrisburg, PA. - October 21, 2011 - Meagan Nusz was awarded the Amateur Owner Jumper Championship, sponsored by K.R. MacDonald Incorporated, at the 66th annual Pennsylvania National Horse Show on Friday. The Woodlands, TX resident also claimed the Leading Amateur Owner Jumper Rider title, sponsored by Mr. & Mrs. Gary E. Swenson. Nusz clinched the Championship with a win in the $15,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Amateur Owner Jumper Classic sponsored by NRG Energy, riding Banana D'ive Z, owned by TNT Equine Partners, LLC. "My horse was amazing, she was fastastic," said Nusz. "I couldn't have asked her to do any better. She's very athletic and very careful. She knows her job." Twenty three riders gave it their all in the Classic but only four riders, and five horses, made it to the jump off round. Alex Parrish of Midway, KY was first to enter the ring in the jump-off on Frisco, and quickly made it evident that she was there to win. Crossing the timers at 38.448 going clear, she set the stage for the three other riders to come, but then it was her own second clear round on Valentina 156, owned by Alexander Farm, of Lexington, KY, that proved to be the time to beat at 35.542. Darby Toben, on Princeton and Ericka Baran, on Ad Fundum each had rails. Last to ride, Nusz, had her game on when she entered the ring on "Banana" as she is affectionately called, and set out to win with a lightning fast round, leaving all the rails in the cups and a solid three seconds faster than the leading time, at 32.839 seconds. "Coming down to the last fence I was thinking please just don't mess this up,"said Nusz. "I always seem to have the last jump down in every class because I can see the finish line and I'm just ready to go and finish." Competition at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg continues through October 22 with Saturday's featured event, the $75,000 FEI World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix de Penn National. |
